Sinbad

Size Doesn't Mattersinbad's april 2009 updateSince leaving his cramped space in the Bacau Zoo, Sinbad has found his niche in the wide open spaces of the Shamwari Wildlife Reserve in South Africa. Healthy but still very undersized, he makes his presence felt with bellowing roars and a playful attitude.

Loud and Proud The caretakers at Shamwari are continually surprised by Sinbad’s vocal abilities. One would never imagine such a forceful roar to come from such a (relatively) tiny lion. Sinbad’s bark, however, is far worse than his bite; he actually roars because he enjoys the company of his human friends.

A Ferocious Appetite Sinbad feels that his food is something worth defending – the only signs of aggression he has shown in his new home occur during feeding time. And although he never misses a meal, his passion for food has yet to influence his slim figure. Sinbad continues to eat and play happily at the Shamwari Reserve; we hope to report more good news soon!
